Z.A.P. Youth Group

Zealous Adolescent People. We want our Youth to know the Lord, and zealously share Him with others.

A little about us...

Z.A.P. (Zealous Adolescent People) is a ministry to 7-12 graders from all backgrounds, hoping to encourage a passionate pursuit of Jesus. This includes growing as a person of knowing and understanding the Bible, prayer, worship, and in discipleship. We long to see young people discovering their destinies in the safety of a loving Christian environment and encourage them to take ownership of their faith.

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified. Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise up the former devastations; and they will repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations."

Isaiah 61:1-4

Avery Blankenship: Older High-School Girls Small Group Leader

Contact Details:

"Hi! I'm Avery one the small group leaders for older high-school girls! I am currently working at a daycare with the sweet two year old's :) I have been a leader at ZAP for almost 2 years and have enjoyed every moment of it! One of my favorite Bible verses right now is Proverbs 3:16 'Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take'. It is a great reminder to keep your eyes open and to keep seeking the great adventure He has for our lives."

Courtney Cole: Younger High School Girls Small Group Leader

Contact Details:

"My name is Courtney and I am a leader for the young high school girls at ZAP. I'm currently working towards my masters in strategic intelligence at SLU while working full-time in a kitchen. I have been at ZAP as a leader for 2 years and been involved at Southgate for 4 years"

Megan Lane: Small Group Leader

Contact Details:

"I'm a full-time barista at Teleo Coffee and part-time office administrator at gateway house of prayer. I've been going to Southgate since last February and jumped right into leadership at ZAP in April"

Jon Schneider: Small Group Leader

Contact Details:

"Hello! I am an 18 year old senior at Fox High School who enjoys staying active and playing music! I have been going to Southgate my entire life and started going to ZAP as a 7th grader. I currently serve on the worship team at Southgate and am one of the worship directors for ZAP. One of my favorite quotes is 'A humble man is not afraid of failure. In fact, he is not afraid of anything, even himself, since perfect humility implies perfect confidence in the power of God' - Thomas Merton.

Grayson Wipperman: Small Group Leader

Contact Details:

"I attended the School of Supernatural Life with Alyn & AJ Jones at Grace Center where my heart came alive for ministry. Recently, I am pursuing a ministry degree through Southeastern University. I enjoy working at La Cosecha Coffee Roasters in Maplewood. I have been a ZAP Leader for 6 years. A favorite quote of mine would be 'When you love you wish to do things for. You wish to sacrifice for. You wish to serve.'"

Joel Ottwell: Middle School Boys Small Group Leader

Contact Details: 314-435-0517

"I'm 21 years old, I've been coming to ZAP since 2019, I'm enrolled at Missouri Baptist University, I work at Chick-Fil-A and I love just about anything technology wise. Now for the important part, my mission as a leader is to equip the youth with an understanding of the Bible so that they may know the Lord and trust in Him. God has put youth ministry heavily on my heart, and specifically I desire that my spiritual rooftop would be their foundation. I still remember when I was in middle school my Sunday school teacher told me, 'Joel, the joy God has given you only He can provide...and nothing will ever compare.' From that point on God has had a hold of my heart, and while it hasn't always been smooth sailing, I know no matter what waves come crashing in my God is with me."

Hang out with us!
